I have tutored 6 students across A-Level (year 1 and year 2), students applying for medicine and GCSE. All of which achieved at least one grade higher than their predicted grade. In my role as a PhD student I have tutored many rotation students (masters and under graduate level).
I studied Biology (A), Chemistry (A) and Business studies (A) at A-Level, Physical Education at AS Level. I then completed a degree in Biomedical Science at Royal Holloway University where I was awarded a 1st Class degree. I then spent over a year working in a COVID labratory during the pandemic. After which, I started my PhD at Cambridge University studying the relationship between diet and epigentic regulation, and how cellular metabolism supports this relationship.

My aim is to make the lessons as fun and engaging as possible. I don't want the students to feel like they are in a class but more like we are having a conversation about science with plenty of back and forth. I encourage students to challenge me if things don't make sense so that their understanding is deepened. Each lesson will be personalised to a level suitable for the student with engaging, colourful Powerpoints to cover the content. After each topic we spend at least 1-2h going over previous exam questions in that topic area to really apply the knowledge learnt in the last topic. The exam questions are a mixture of multiple choice and written answers. Although it may seem like a long time to spend on questions, I've found it really teaches the students the pattern of the mark scheme.
