I use a young person-centred approach that focuses on supporting individual needs while leveraging their strengths to build skills and confidence. By tailoring lessons to each student's abilities, I create an engaging and supportive environment. This personalized approach empowers students to make progress at their own pace, fostering both academic growth and self-assurance.

In my literacy lessons, I focus on core skills such as reading, writing, and comprehension, using engaging activities to make learning fun and accessible. I believe in creating a positive, supportive environment where students can build confidence in their abilities. I use a variety of active learning strategies, such as storytelling, word games, and creative writing exercises, to ensure lessons are dynamic and engaging.

In my numeracy lessons, I incorporate Glasgow Counts techniques, following a progression from concrete to pictorial to abstract learning. This structured approach helps students grasp mathematical concepts step by step, using hands-on materials before moving to more abstract problem-solving. I also include experiential learning activities, such as real-life applications of maths, and fun games to consolidate skills in an enjoyable way. Whether working on addition, subtraction, or more advanced concepts, my goal is to make maths approachable and meaningful.

With over 5 years of teaching experience in both primary and secondary settings, I have worked with diverse groups of students, including those with additional learning needs. My lessons are always interactive, supportive, and designed to foster both academic success and a love for learning. I have worked with young people for 5-18 with a wide range of needs a abilities.
