Philip Henderson

Hi! My lessons use conversation, PowerPoint presentations and videos to make lessons fun, interactive and helpful for improving your English, whatever you level or goal.

I started teaching in 2013 and have specialised in a variety of English subjects, including phonics, business, IELTS, University preparation and essay writing and proofreading. I have a Masters degree in English studies and a PGCE from Durham University. I have taught English in secondary schools, corporate workshops and on foundation courses and UK universities to prepare students for professional and academic environments, including at Newcastle and Roehampton universities.

I have a reflective and adaptable approach to teaching, so I can change my lesson style and methods to suit your individual needs. I enjoy staying up to date with new technology and software to create a blended teaching style that is inclusive and engaging. Trademarks of my teaching include pre and post lesson videos to explain complex topics, non-academic debates at the beginning of each lesson to encourage student participation.

My goal is simple, to help you achieve your goal. Whether you need to reach a particular IELTS level, whether you are struggling with an essay or job application you are writing or whether you simply want to improve your English skills in general for travel, work or conversation, I can help.
