My experience as an English teacher has allowed me to create interesting and alternative ways to teach English. Throughout my years of teaching English I have found that a very useful tool is the usage of the 3 P´s (Presentation, Practice & Production). A typical lesson will be conducted as followed:

- Warm Up (An interactive practice between teacher & student) usually consisting of a introduction to the learning outcomes of the lesson.

- Presentation (The Teacher) conducts a breakdown of the particular topic what he/she/they will cover in greater detail. Examples for the usage and importance of the particular topic will be discussed in this section of the lesson.

- Practice (Teacher & Student) both parties will go through the topic in detail to establish an understanding. The purpose of this practice is for me (the teacher) to initiate a base line test depending on students ability and understanding.

- Production (Student) moving from the 2nd P (Practice), I will use the base line test to ensure the student has correct understanding of the particular topic covered in the lesson. The student will have to demonstrate their understanding without the assistance of the teacher. With encouragement from myself, I have found that allowing students efficient time to conclude their own answers has helped instil confidence and made the lesson a lot more enjoyable.

Finally after establishing the main concept of the lesson plan (even if the student doesn’t full comprehend the entire lesson plan) both parties will end the lesson on a positive note by focusing on what the student has learned from the lesson. This particular step I like to call a “Warm Down”.

It is my job to help and assist students in learning about the English language. If my students do not feel they have learnt anything valuable or educational, I have failed as a teacher. Sometimes students can feel overwhelmed with particular topics, it is my aim to ensure each individual that they have not wasted their time. Every student is different and learns in their own unique way, it is my job to find out how each individual student processes information and learning techniques to incorporate that throughout the lesson plan.
