I am a Spanish tutor at the University of Portland, where I work with students from all ages to help them develop their skills at the same time that they better understand the assignments and homework they are assigned.
My classes are typically private/personal, since I’d rather focus on one student at a time. However I might be able to work with a couple students at a time if requested.
My lessons are known for being rather dynamic and active, and I constantly make sure that the student is following what’s being taught.
Depending on the student’s schedule I am available for in-person classes as well as online sessions.
First I like to know what is the purpose of the visit, due to the fact that I might approach it differently depending on that precise goal. Once I know what the goal is, I shed light on how we are going to work towards that goal and perhaps how we are going to structure the lessons to achieve the objectives.
I love to use paper as the main tool for teaching since I am a big believer that writing down instead of typing makes a big difference when it comes to the learning process.
In my brief experience as a tutor I have enjoyed every minute I spent with students and it is such a satisfactory feeling for both me and the student to reach the goals we proposed. I can’t wait to meet new students seeking an opportunity for either using a hand with homework or simply desiring to start learning a new language.
