In the first lesson I will present the student with a variety of model questions from different aspects of the syllabus so as to assess what areas need working on. The remaining lessons will involve a primary period whereby I explain concepts using visual aids such as live drawing (I work on an iPad), after which I will quiz the student and sometimes ask him/her to explain the concept back to me. Once confident in the student's understanding I put forward relevant questions to test and apply the newly acquired knowledge.
I also make an effort of linking different aspects of the syllabus together so as to strengthen and consolidate the students grasp of the subject. I make sure to repeat and draw back on challenging aspects of previous lessons (through questions and problems) to further consolidate the students understanding.
I have a bank of questions and exam papers to draw from to test the students knowledge. I can also use these questions to set homework depending on the wishes of the parent and student.
I have previous experience tutoring having tutored on a website called TutorHunt for a year, where I supported a student in GCSE Chemistry and gave a couple Biology lessons. I have also previously worked with children in other fields, as a football and skateboarding instructor.
I enjoy working with children and gain satisfaction from witnessing the progress of my students as well as fostering curiosity and enjoyment in the subjects that I teach.
I am happy to negotiate prices.
