I'm a passionate and pioneering educator and coach, and have spent the past 30 years working
with students, parents, and fellow educators to help them bring out the best in themselves.

I have a deep background in developing emotional intelligence, having studied and
practised mindfulness, kindness, empathy, and related qualities since the late 1990’s. I have
spent cumulatively over a year of my life in mindful meditation retreats. My coaching -
with children, teens and adults - is strongly informed by this background.

I'm the creator of the 9 Kind Gen education principles, currently being built into an app
for schools and parents. These principles include ‘Honoring each child’s uniqueness’, “Flow’
and ‘Empowered learning state’.

As well as working directly with students, I also love coaching parents and adults generally.

My own experience of parenting my son Ayrton helped shape my approach. Ayrton had both severely delayed speech (he did not speak a word until the age of 4, and was not fully fluent till age 8), and is dyslexic. In response to the challenges of this, I developed an approach to transform these challenges into high performance, both socially and academically. Ayrton went on to speak in the UK Parliament aged 9 (proposing a new law to help end factory farming); and to excel academically. Ayrton’s award-winning success as a social activist is documented on Wikipedia:

I'm the author of the blog on wise and compassionate living, Crossing the Stream, read by
parents and other educators, covering such areas as mindfulness, resilience, confidence,
compassion and kindness.

I also authored “May you be Happy! May you be Safe! 21 Stories of Kindness and Calm to Read
with Your Child”. Written for both parents and teachers, the stories and exercises are designed to
develop confidence, kindness, patience, empathy and generosity in children aged up to 6. They are
used in schools in several countries.

I have wide experience of coaching and educating across the age range from 3 up to
adult, including a significant number diagnosed as neurodivergent and other special education
needs.

I have two Masters degrees, one from Cambridge University in the UK.

In my 20's, I was a professional classical musician.

I live with my wife and son, and their British Short Hair cat Wilbur in the English countryside.
