Paul Bourke

My name is Paul. I was born and raised in Ireland and completed all my education there. I currently live in Turkey and have over 7 years of experience in ESL teaching. I have a bachelor's degree in science and am fully TESOL/TEFL certified. I specialize in teaching IELTS students and have gained years of experience with thousands of international students. I focus on strategy and kindness, with a drive for resolving problems and motivating students develop a high level of proficiency in spoken English.

In class we can cover common questions in IELTS and work on methods about how to improve in each of the 4 scoring sections. The most important areas which we will focus on are grammar, fluency, vocabulary and pronunciation/intonation. The student will gain an understanding of what the examiners are looking for and how to meet the scoring requirements in the most simple way possible. Based on years of experience with students, I can understand quickly where the student can improve and I can advice this in class.

My approach to IELTS is to focus on keeping it simple, informal and natural. These are the most important strategies which should be implemented in any IELTS test. Areas such as natural collocations, phrasal verbs, idiomatic expressions and other techniques will be advised in class. The most important thing the student needs to understand is that the IELTS is never as difficult as it seems. There are ways to score high, without unnecessary complications.
