I have taught at schools, universities and companies in the UK and France and have based my teaching on the need to communicate effectively and accurately in the target language. This involves, firstly, encouraging people to speak in French, however simple the conversation may be. Oral practice is supplemented with clear explanations of grammar and the acquisition of carefully targeted vocabulary. At a more advanced sage, students will be encouraged to read widely in French and to discuss and to write in French on different topics.
