Patrick is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and music producer. He gained first class undergraduate and masters degrees in Composition from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he also taught as a junior fellow. He has been teaching Guitar, Bass Guitar, Music Theory and Composition to a wide range of students for 7 years alongside his work as a musician. As well as a composition qualifications, Patrick has achieved grade 8 (Distinction) in Guitar and grade 7 (Distinction) in Piano. He has performed extensively as a professional solo classical guitarist and has been the recipient of awards in several nationwide competitions. Patrick has also played in award winning bands as an ensemble jazz and rock/pop guitarist and bass guitarist. His award winning compositions receive professional, public performances and he curates, writes for and performs in his own concert series and ensemble. His music productions enjoy regular releases on esteemed labels and have been played on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra, and at music festivals around the world.
Patrick’s wide-ranging experience and knowledge can take your musicianship to the next level from whatever your current stage and whatever your interests may be. He hopes to make his lessons educational, inspiring, and most of all, enjoyable.
Teaching in Guitar and Bass Guitar
Patrick teaches Guitar to anyone from beginner to advanced level. His lessons can be tailored to suit your needs: whether it is learning songs and chords; improvisation and soloing; or preparing you for ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall exams. A typical lesson includes:
- Left and right hand technique
- Tone and sound quality
- Musicality and phrasing
- Fingering technique and positioning
- Learning new pieces
- Scales, arpeggios and sight reading
- Harmony, chords and chord construction

Teaching in Composition
As a professional and conservatoire educated composer, Patrick is able to teach composers at beginner and advanced levels. A typical lesson includes:

Teaching in Music Theory
Patrick has taught Music Theory up to degree level but is more than capable of teaching complete beginners. Music Theory can be daunting but Patrick hopes to simplify and clarify any gaps in knowledge. He can aid you in achieving ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall exams. A typical lesson aims to improve your understanding of:
- Chords, harmony and harmonic progression
- Key signatures and tonality
- Time signatures and rhythm
- Melody and melodic development
- Intervals

Genre
Patrick is capable of accommodating all genres. Although specialising in classical, contemporary classical and experimental music, Patrick is well educated and practiced in Jazz, soul, pop, folk, rock, metal.
First lesson
Patrick hopes to create a relaxed and pressure-free environment in the first lesson where you can get to know each other and share what you hope to gain from the experience. This lesson will be spent gaining an understanding the type of musician you are and what might be the best approach in moving forward with further lessons.
Beginners
Patrick is very capable of taking on beginner students of any age. He will make sure you gain an understanding of the fundamentals of music, how to read it and how to play it! Moving at a pace which is comfortable for you, he will guide you to becoming the musician you want to be in the shortest time possible.
