I have always been fascinated by mathematics and accounting as they are far reaching subjects, not just theoretical but ones we practically embrace each day. It is not just for mathematicians nor accountants, to mention but a few but an ordinary layman also makes use of mathematics and accounts.

In my three years of teaching mathematics and accounting, I find it advantageous for my students to approach the lessons from a more interactive perspective. Presentations from research work coupled with homework or assignments. Continuous assessment evaluation covering 60% and 40% from examinations.

I try as much as possible to urge students as much as possible to take a keen interest in mathematics and numbers. Traditionally the girl child did not have much interest in tackling mathematics but at the turn of the century they has been awareness on equal rights and I try as much as possible to encourage girls in my classes to take a liking in the challenging subjects and believing they are just as capable as their male counterparts.

Mathematics is a way of life from the construction workers building bridges, engineers, astronauts, pharmacist to the ordinary students even in grade one, knowledge of mathematics is of vital importance. It is because it is all around us just like the air we breath, that makes it such an essential element in life. In my class I urge students to approach mathematics with an open mind bearing that every mathematical problem has a solution and in accounts its all about balancing the figures, hence accountability is a vital aspect of life. Only one thing will make us great mathematicians and accountants, fondness of figures thereby forging the next Albert Einsteins.
