Pamela Izyan Hay

In terms of my educational background, I have a BA in International Relations with First Class Honours from King's College London, with an MPhil in Development Studies (Distinction) from the University of Cambridge, through which I attended with a full scholarship. I have 3+ years of international career experience in the NGO, private and government sectors, and volunteering experience, to offer.

As I have a background in acting, I enjoy employing a dynamic, hands on approach to my teaching style, which I believe works well to continuously engage young people. This is particularly useful with teaching English Literature. I am also proficient at using PPT/Prezi for presentations, and am knowledgeable of the English Language and literature curriculums in the UK at both GCSE and A-Levels. As a child, I went to an International School in Malaysia, so I also have experience of IGCSE curriculums and am understanding of these contexts.

I have experience tutoring English as a Foreign Language to Burmese refugee children in Malaysia under UNHCR. I also have professional experience as a domestic violence support advocate, through which I've gained knowledge and skill with working with vulnerable individuals who possess multiple disadvantages, such as mental health issues and disabilities. I have an enhanced DBS check as a result of this work that I can provide proof of if required.
