I am working as a freelancer archaeological illustrator for 20 years teaching in universities, conducting workshops, working on field drawings and digital illustrations and editing to the final publication standards. I have worked for more than 20 projects part time/full time and leader, worked for several different universities and commercial firms on different subjects from paleolithic settlements to medieval objects.
Our lessons will be personalized according to the needs. You can be a trainee archaeologist, a university student studying archaeology or anyone interested in archaeological illustration techniques. For example, you might want to work on specific type of object for your thesis or publication and need to figure out where and how to start. You might not want to start from stracth but mostly focus on preparing drawings on publication standards. We can make a brand new content regarding your needs and arrange online or 1:1 settings to go further. Neither the material of the object (bone, metal, clay, stone etc), the period that the object belongs to, the type of cultural layer of the architecture needs to be planned, context of the subject (grave, section of an architectural element, facade of a gateway or floor plan of a complete building etc); nor the level of your knowledge doesn't matter. This is about technical drawing techniques, learning how to use some specific tools to do this and learning which parts need to be illustrated as crucial to fully represent the subject. All equipment will be provided when lessons are 1:1. For online sessions, instructions and a list of all the necessary equipment will be given beforehand and lessons will start when you are ready to stay. Handouts will be provided for the basics of freehand illustration, traditional inking method and basic 2D AutoCAD versions.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any other queries. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
