Currently, I am teaching A-Level Psychology under AQA while also delivering Health and Social Care units to BTEC students. My teaching experience spans diverse learning environments, including Sixth Form, Access to HE, and university-level co-lecturing. Over the past two years, I have been co-lecturing in a Qualitative Research Psychology class at Richmond American University in London, further deepening my expertise in guiding students through complex research methodologies. In addition, my role as a trainee teacher in Psychology, Sociology, and Social Sciences at FE Westminster Kingsway College has equipped me with essential pedagogical strategies, particularly in adapting course material to the needs of diverse learners.
Beyond classroom instruction, I have over 10 years of private tutoring experience in English and Russian for non-native speakers. These professional and personal experiences have provided me with a unique insight into human behaviour, cultural diversity, and individual learning needs, which I integrate into my teaching. My academic background, including a First-Class BA in Psychology and Social Sciences, coupled with my PGCE at UCL, underpins my ability to teach psychology with a focus on evidence-based research and complex theoretical aspects.
As a psychology educator, I believe in the transformative power of education not just to impart knowledge but to foster critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. I design my lessons around real-life examples, helping students connect theoretical concepts to their personal experiences for a more profound understanding. Whether it is simplifying complex neurological processes through diagrams or using role-play to simulate psychotherapeutic interventions, I strive to create engaging, interactive learning environments that encourage students to apply psychological theory critically and thoughtfully.
My teaching philosophy emphasises inclusivity, respect, and a commitment to equity. I believe that every student, regardless of background or ability, deserves a supportive and encouraging learning environment. These values align closely with institutional commitment to fostering diversity and intellectual growth. I also understand the importance of developing analytical and reasoning skills that allow students to become informed, ethical researchers and practitioners in the field of psychology.
I am particularly drawn to this role because of my eagerness for academic excellence and emphasis on developing critical research skills among students. I am excited about the possibility of contributing to this learning environment and guiding students through the fascinating intricacies within psychology, equipping them with the tools to navigate research and professional practice successfully.
