I teach for understanding, I am a fully qualified maths teacher and have taught as a secondary/sixth form maths teacher for over 3 years I have also tutored maths for over 9 years in my experience when students get a good understanding of topics they can easily apply the knowledge they have learned to various different unfamiliar scenarios. I teach for understanding, I am a fully qualified maths teacher and have taught as a secondary/sixth form maths teacher for over 3 years I have also tutored maths for over 9 years in my experience when students get a good understanding of topics they can easily apply the knowledge they have learned to various different unfamiliar scenarios. GCSE maths has become oriented towards problem solving to a much higher degree so deep understanding is essential. I work through building fundamental knowledge, guided practice, self practice, problem solving and application of knowledge as this is how exam questions will be. I have taught many students who have achieved grade 9’s in maths due to their ability to grasp key concepts through deep understanding.
