I will bring my own sewing machine if you haven't got one of your own, and instruct you on how these items should be used, and what they're commonly used for within the garment construction and pattern cutting.
I will teach you how to draw flat patterns, and how to understand pattern drafting instructions - After all, they can be difficult for people new to trying these things!
If you just need help focusing on what you're trying to accomplish, then drawing up study plans and revision guides is something that we can work on together. The end goal of your lessons is to reach a place where you feel comfortable with the syllabus, whether that is GCSE coursework, or simply learning sewing for your enjoyment.
The first lesson will be mainly focused on working together to understand where you stand in your current point of learning, and identifying areas for improvement, before starting to address those in your second lesson.
Hand sewing skills are essential for the foundation of understanding garment construction, which should always be understood by fashion students, so this will usually be the first practical lesson, focusing on this area. After you are comfortable with hand sewing, we will look at machine stitches and their uses, and which fabrics work better with which machine settings.
