I tend to focus in the roots of the weaknesses of my students and try to take away their fear in those areas. I find it out by taking verbal tests and asking questions.
I also try to use verbal, visual, written explanation methods to explain my students and use a combination of those which has proven to be effective.
Finally to complete the learning process of a specific topic, I take a short test of 15-20 minutes to understand where their understanding is at after the explanation, usually they score higher.
This then follows up with a deeper and wider explanation of the topic to strengthen their understanding.
Moreover, I tend to be satisfied when a student is able to explain the topic to me by themselves, which shows their knowledge on it.
Students are usually afraid of mostly Science, specifically physics and chemistry, and the reason is, they usually cannot relate the topics or subject areas to real life, where I try my best to related each and every content in their curriculum or syllabus to real life, where the students can then easily build a strong foundational knowledge on the topic which then is structured with the help of my scaffolding techniques which also includes thorough revision of the notes I create for them during the explaining process.
The numerous students I’ve taught and mentored have achieved their desired results and more in the subjects I’ve taught them.
