Based on my personal experience, I used 4 methods to attain my study goals. These methods are problem solving, classes, probing, and discovery. Each method comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. Over the years, I have been able to optimise my study model to harness the power of these 4 methods.
Problem solving is one of the ways you can develop your study skills. It encourages critical thinking and often leads to a better understanding of study materials. However, I understand that this method is not for all. It takes time to master the act of problem solving. Inability to solve a problem may lead to lack of motivation to proceed. It is my responsibility to help you push through in a healthy manner, without affecting your mental well-being.
Classes or lectures will help me deliver materials to you. I like to use visual aids and other teaching tools available to deliver concepts. I encourage active participation with carefully positioned problem solving breakpoints in lecture notes to prevent passive listening. Probing improves your critical thinking. During your free time, you can independently question concepts by using words such as how? why? in your study notes. Your questions will be duly answered in the subsequent lesson.
Lastly, discovery is a blend of all. At this point, your level of critical thinking will be high and you may have solved critical problems yourself. The goal is to make you attain your study goals without burning yourself out.
Remember!
One step at a time is all it takes to get you there.
