The structure of my lessons depends on the general proficiency level of the students.

For learners of lower proficiency levels, I will employ a combination of visuals, non-verbal cues, creative activities, and spaced repetition to assist all language learners regardless of their native language. I have had experience teaching native speakers of languages which I don't speak, such as Mandarin Chinese and Arabic, so I am unafraid of interacting with students from completely different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. I have also taught a number of students with little to no formal education so I am familiar with teaching students the building blocks to basic literacy all the way from the alphabet. Each class will focus on a specific topic that is relatable to students' everyday lives so that they can develop vocabulary in areas most useful to them. The main objective of English classes at a lower proficiency level is essential everyday communication.

For learners of higher proficiency levels, I will focus on three main aspects of language study: advanced vocabulary, grammar, and clear pronunciation. In these classes, I will provide students with a systematic overview of English grammar with the intention of teaching students how to communicate correctly with grammatical competence that rivals that of a native speaker. In order to help students expand their vocabulary into a more professional and academic level, I often use works of literature, music, and other culturally relevant sources of material so that students increase their knowledge of English-language cultures as they elevate their vocabulary.

At the start of any session together, I will do my best to get to know the student at hand to personalize the lessons for their benefit.
