I attempt to declutter and simplify content that's described using saturated terminology that the student may not be able to comprehend and interpret. I do this by using simpler words and attempting to ground the content being taught in real life examples, or at the very least by explaining a portion of said content using relatable/intelligible wording rooted in real life.
My lessons would be a mixture of me performing the task the student is struggling with, going through and explaining it and then allowing the student to show me if they've successfully digested it, through both answering questions of ascending difficulty on said task/topic as well as recieving a verbal explanation from the student themselves as to what the task is and why it is performed in a certain way. These do not occur in any particular order
I have secured a grade 9 in GCSE maths (and a less relevant Grade 7 in GCSE Further maths) as of 2023, and am studying both maths and further maths at A level until 2025. This doesn't mean that I'm only limited to teaching GCSE content. I am more than happy to teach content at secondary school (Years 7 and 8) level, as well as any level below that.
My lessons will be very much hands on, despite the fact that i will do a sizeable chunk of explanation and demonstration. There will be a mini quiz at the end of each lesson to solidify any knowledge learned and ensure that it has, in fact, been learned.
