Another educational and fun thing to do is practical classes. It could be a real demonstration or a video recording of it.
I understand students don't like reading too much these days and biology is quite wide and sometimes abstract, hence, I used the combo above to make class fun and less boring.
I believe what students see and do tends to resonate more with them than just what they read.
