Hi! I’m Oliver, a 19-year-old Business Management student at Loughborough University. Maths has always been a passion of mine—I achieved an A in A-Level Maths and a 9 at GCSE, and I scored 79% overall in my first year at university. Hi! I’m Oliver, a 19-year-old Business Management student at Loughborough University. Maths has always been a passion of mine—I achieved an A in A-Level Maths and a 9 at GCSE, and I scored 79% overall in my first year at university. I also have experience tutoring two GCSE students who, after starting at Track 4, improved to achieve grades 5 and 6 respectively with my help.
When it comes to my lessons, I focus on being patient, clear, and engaging. I understand that everyone learns at a different pace, so I tailor each session to the individual student’s needs, breaking down tricky concepts and ensuring they understand the foundations before moving on. My aim is to boost both confidence and performance.
My lessons are structured yet flexible. Typically, we’ll start by going over any questions or areas of difficulty, followed by step-by-step explanations and example problems. I’ll guide students through Edexcel past paper questions, and we’ll review all past paper content, questions and answers/mark schemes and will workshop any mistakes together, so they can learn effectively and be prepared for the upcoming exams. I always encourage active participation and will help my students to confidently approach their GCSE maths exam with the knowledge, experience and attitude to reach their potential.
I also spent the summer at Frost Valley YMCA a summer camp in New York State as a camp counsellor, so I’ve gained a lot of experience working with teenagers in a fun, positive, and supportive way. This has helped me connect with students, keeping lessons enjoyable and pressure-free, and also given me the ability to motivate teenagers, so my students can achieve the results they want and deserve.
If you’re looking to improve your GCSE maths grades, and need someone who’s engaging and able to make maths - dare I say it - "fun" and who has been through it all recently, I’d love to help!
