I initially begin by explaining the objectives of the lesson and how it will be achieved; It is important to give an overarching plan of the lesson as it helps with attention and keeps the lesson on track throughout. It's also important to focus on how what we are learning is applicable to situations outside of the lesson, as this helps with retainment of the information.
In a typical lesson I present the topic, definition or structure we'll be focusing on, then use controlled activities to repeat the English we have been learning. The next stage focuses on activities where the individual is pushed to produce the features we have covered themselves, with influence on self-correction.

At the beginning of each lesson I enjoy using small, fun activities to quickly refresh what we did in the previous session, as repetition is important in retaining the learnt information.

I think it is important, especially in beginner levels, to keep the lessons as upbeat and fun as possible, with a personal twist, as this helps to keep attention as well as improves overall memory of the subjects covered. Due to this I include activities, alongside the worksheet, written aspect of the class.
Along with giving the students feedback and corrections, I enjoy hearing regular feedback from the students to help better cater the lessons to their individual needs and know which areas they feel they need more work on. I believe this creates a positive space for the teacher and student to share feedback, whilst encouraging the student to voice when they need more support. It is also a way to reflect on the lessons regularly, helping with retaining what was learnt.
