As I've been taught throughout my University Degree, I've realized there are various ways to teach students, some being better attuned to others. The first goal will be to assess my student's struggles and find the best way to teach the student the subject. The lesson will start with a lecture on the topic, which may include a presentation I make or videos I have of my professors. The length of the lecture will depend on the assessment of the student's needs. Lectures will include thorough proofs, visual representations, and/or brief readings. Then, we move on to examples.
My personal learning is usually at its best when I'm shown examples of problems which are related to the current course topics. Simple at first, but escalating into more difficult problems with more complex solutions. Additionally, I find proofs to be important to understand the fundamentals of the topic. Again, in my personal experience, I found that if I don't know why these topics exist in the first place and how they work, I won't know how to think about the problem logically.
I love teaching people the wonders of Math and Physics because when you finally understand whatever has been stumping you and are struck with a Eureka moment, it's always gratifying as a tutor. Then you slowly find the connections between certain topics, especially in the world of Calculus.
I look forward to learning about each individual and how I can help them achieve their goals. Thank you so much.
