To begin with, it's important we recognise the most important thing, outside of a pen and paper, in my lessons: confidence.
Confidence in ourselves as we're learning is so crucial because it means that we're ok with making mistakes, we're able to find out what we did wrong and right and we can ask questions to get there. I ask that all my students communicate exactly what it is they want to study, how they want to study it, what they don't understand and any way I can improve our lessons so that we can make the most progress, together.
Firstly, we'll briefly speak on the content of the day's lessons - If there's anything which you'd like to study in particular, I have access to plenty of resources which I can share with my students on short notice if necessary, though ideally if you would be able to contact me about the content beforehand I can create our own lesson plan full of examples, practice questions and tricks to help develop your maths.
We'll go over the topics decided on, taking time to ensure there are no gaps left in our understanding of the topics, and making certain that any questions you have are answered along the way. Once we've completed a set of questions, we'll go over your answers and mark them, looking back at what went well and what we need to work on. If necessary, we can always take time to go over any of these if you're unsure of a topic or why a question was answered a certain way - as before, developing your understanding of and improving your maths is number one priority, and with consistent, meaningful practice, that is exactly what we will do.
