My 7 step program:

Initial Assessment:
Determine what the student already knows and identify any gaps in knowledge.

Break Down the Task:
Divide the learning material into smaller, more manageable parts. This prevents the student from feeling overwhelmed.

Modelling:
Show the student how to approach and solve a problem. Think aloud as you work through the steps, making your thinking process transparent.

Guided Practice:
Work together on similar problems, gradually allowing the student to take on more responsibility. Provide guidance and feedback throughout this phase.

Gradual Release:
As the student becomes more competent, slowly reduce the amount of help you provide. Encourage them to attempt problems independently, stepping in only when necessary.

Independent Practice:
Allow the student to practice on their own. This builds confidence and solidifies their understanding.

Review and Reflect:
Reinforce Learning: Review completed work and discuss what was done well and what could be improved. Encourage the student to reflect on their learning process.
