I like to structure each lesson into three sections:
1. The rudiments or fundamentals. This would include the theory, technique, posture, and even some history, etc. where appropriate. This section is important as it lays a strong foundation for personal expression and creativity.
2. Music appreciation: In this section, we learn the music of others. We learn a new song or perfect a previous one and try to understand and analyze the song. This section is important for the development of a musical mind. It is important to understand what works, why they work, and in what genre of music they work.
3. Music application: In this section, the student uses the knowledge gained from sections 1 and 2 to create music. This section is so important as it guides and sharpens the student's inner creativity.
In general, lessons are student-centered and activity-based. I take into consideration your current technical level, music preferences, musical goals, etc. in creating a personalized music lesson.
