Although I haven’t held a formal teaching job, I’ve been actively involved in educational roles since Year 9. I’ve volunteered every year to tutor in some capacity, something I’m deeply passionate about, as I want to help others access the same opportunities I’ve had. During lockdown, I taught Spanish and Japanese to students in both the UK and India. I have mentored Year 3 pupils to support their literacy skills and build their confidence. Additionally, I’ve privately tutored multiple 11+ students, many of whom were successfully admitted into top grammar schools. In Year 13, I led weekly maths sessions for Year 8 and 9 students.
My teaching methods focus on understanding how each student thinks and what they need in order to truly grasp a topic. I take time to get to know them and tailor my explanations to suit their learning style. I also keep the environment friendly and informal, so students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence. To help learning stick, I make sure we’re continuously revisiting and practising previous topics through recall and active practice.
I also share my personal tips for revising effectively and working smarter, not harder, while giving students access to my Quizlets and creating custom questions based on their specific needs.
