I have been teaching (and tutoring) French in the UK for the past 20 years in various settings: mainly in secondary schools, to students 11-18, but also privately, coaching students for exams (GCSE, A level and Business French) as a Tutor.
I have also taught Adults at all levels (Beginners to proficient) in classes and one to one, for personal interest, from beginner to conversation level, and for business purposes, at their place, mine or offices. The content and approach is tailored to the needs of the learners, their objectives and time.
Since the lockdown, I have started offering online tuitions, to groups and individual students. When tutoring online, I use and share some online materials.
Generally, I use online and hard copy materials, practising the 4 skills (Listening, speaking, reading and writing) as well as grammar. Outside the lessons/tuitions, I encourage the students to listen/watch to some relevant French materials (on Youtube, BBC website, French websites such as TV5monde) and to practise the new vocabulary, using online tools such as Quizlet & Duolingo.
The lesson is focusing on explaining difficulties, grammar rules, practising the grammar points as well as acquiring the vocabulary/expressions related to the topics, to then enable them to engage in more spontaneous and conversational exchanges. The follow up of the lesson (homework) is a crucial part for the learners, which will enable them to consolidate and appropriate the newly learned points/topics, either it be in the form of a written or online exercises, including audio and videos exercises.
