I use a Powerpoint presentation format usually, going through specific definitions, specific subject areas and making it a positive and interactive experience for the student during our session together. However I can tailor lessons to specific student needs, for instance I can devise a written quiz/assessment to test a students ability at points during our time together. This also allows for myself and more specifically, the student, to track and note their progress. Furthermore, I'd aim to complete a maximum of an hour session at a time, 10-15 minutes at the beginning of the lesson to consolidate the previous lesson's content and the last 5-10 minutes to go through any areas of the lessons that were not clear to the student. The content of the lesson will consist of what the students desires to cover in our session together, for instance if they have a test coming up on a certain area of Psychology, such as attachment or social influence (as topics of reference, in this case on the AQA specification), we can cover that specifically in our lesson. As for dynamics, I try to create a more informal, conversational atmosphere, however not one where we are lost in conversation, but the student feels comfortable to ask a question about the topic of discussion and is not afraid to clarify a word or meaning. I have experience as a tutor, in the previous 2 years, I have tutored a couple of students through their GCSE exam season and received positive feedback from them as a consequence.
