I have GCSES and A-Levels in both Russian (Edexcel, Edexcel) and Arabic (Cambridge, Edexcel) and have gone on to study Arabic at the University of Edinburgh, achieving top grades in both subjects. As a tutor I aim to inspire in my students the sort of passion that has motivated me to pursue a career in not just languages, but also the literature, cultures, and people that surround them. I am also a published translator in Arabic literature. Experience in Linguistics and learning a variety of languages allows me to precisely and simply describe concepts concepts in language in a way that does not mystify or complicate what really is just communication between people. I offer a hands-on approach that underlines the importance of doing in the language-learning process, maximising communication and getting familiar with learned structures in context instead of the textbook learning that, in my opinion, drives many away from an otherwise highly enjoyable subject. All of this is not to say, however, that due care will not be given to exam technique: plenty of time will also be devoted to the important step of familiarising oneself with what can be a daunting format.
