I like to work closely with students to address any confusion or difficulties with topics. I find it is important to foster an environment where students feel comfortable to discuss any weak spots in their understanding of a subject. I encourage students to ask questions so that there is an open dialogue between student and teacher, and I can understand what areas I need to further elaborate and focus on. I like to approach my classes with a positive, open-minded and can-do attitude so that students feel more at ease and confident to ask me any questions and discuss challenges they are facing.
In terms of format, I like to do practice problems and go through example questions with students, and see which areas they need and want to work on. I find it is important to thoroughly understand the major concepts in the lessons, and so I like to go through the content in the textbooks and examples with the students. I also like to go through worksheets or tests from their classes, and also provide my own test questions on occasion to give students more practice.
I have had a long career in teaching as a professional and as a parent.I helped my own kids overcome their fear of science subjects and mathematics throughout primary and secondary school. As a tutor, I have taught IGCSE (O Levels) related curriculum to students at a learning center for three years, and have received great feedback on my teaching style. I have also guest lectured at university-level classes.
