Having tutored many students both privately and as a volunteer, I have become very familiar to different teaching methods, which are suited to each individual.

Before I begin any lessons, I speak to my students to explore which methods are effective for them. Once we have decided which method is the most suitable for you, this is the teaching style I will implement. For example, this could be using online whiteboards to draw diagrams aiding understanding or using simple PowerPoint slides, or even a mixture of different methods.

All resources are also sent to the student, for reference and future use.

Learning takes place in 3 stages : input, storage, retrieval. I plan to guide students through these stages. Firstly, there is the input phase, where I explain the content and concepts of the topic in a simple but effective way, in which all the key marking points of the specification are included. This is then stored in memory. Retrieval is constantly going back to these pieces of information in the stores, to achieve long-term memory. I usually implement retrieval at the start of every lesson to ensure past content isn’t forgotten and constantly revisited.

As well as this, I also do ‘filler’ lessons regularly, where we revisit concepts and topics that you may no longer remember well or understand properly, allowing us to iron out any mistakes.

I also do exam practice and walkthroughs with you, ensuring you are able to apply your knowledge to exam questions so you are able to perform at your best.
