As an experienced senior nurse in the nhs, I have hands on experience in various forms of teaching.
With the ever changing world we now see ourselves in, I am able to replicate a face to face teaching/tutoring session into a virtual environment, so distance is no issue.
I have always felt that individualised student planning is imperative to getting the best possible outcome for the students.
For this reason I prefer to discuss the goals and objectives with the student and work together to an agreed plan, in which student and tutor are happy. This way the student can get the very best from each session.
I have experience in teaching pre and post registration nursing students, medical students, health and social care students at GCSE and Alevel as well as nursing and medical colleagues.
My methodology is very much dependent on the students learning style. This is why a meeting before any lessons are undertaken is key, so I may get a better understanding of the students learning style and adopt my teaching style accordingly.
Some students learnt best by visual means, this could mean me drawing and making illustrative teaching resources to get the best learning outcome.
It may be that the student learns best from question and answers based upon text learning and call and response.
I am happy to adapt to any students learning style and make a robust plan so that goals, objectives and needs are met in a timely manner.
