I have experience teaching students of many different years in completely different subjects. I previously assisted in running a club for Year 7s called coding club, where students would use LEDs connected to computers to code images onto the LEDs using a website called MicroBit. The format of these lessons would be as follows: I have a set of questions that students get on with by themselves, and I assist as required. In this case it was important to be aware of every student in the classroom, and be able to spot anyone in need as soon as possible. Once the session is over, homework is given to the students so anyone that may not have understood the concepts we went over can use as much time as they want to be able to truly grasp the concepts before the next session.
I also have experience tutoring GCSE maths students. This would be in person tutoring sessions with 1 or 2 students at a time, and I would focus on topics they didn't quite understand. I would give them simple, yet concise details on the topic, and throughout my explanation would provide examples to help translate my words to simple questions to easier grasp the topic. Once I feel they have understood, they are given a set of questions steadily progressing in difficulty, and I will provide help as needed. When I help a student am tutoring, the aim isn't to give them the answer, but to draw the answer out of them, meaning that the answer has come from their own knowledge. This not only aids with understanding the question, but it helps the students with confidence, which is what I hope to provide all my students with.
