Having recently completed my A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology with a strong academic background from a grammar school, I am excited to step into the role of a young science tutor. My experience as a tutor at Kumon for one year has been incredibly rewarding, equipping me with essential skills in teaching and student engagement. At Kumon, I learned the importance of patience, individualised learning, and effective communication, which allowed me to help students build their confidence and improve their academic performance.
I plan to employ a structured and student-centred approach. I will begin by asking each student about the topics they find challenging. Using this information, I will create an Excel document to track their progress and break down each topic into manageable sub-modules. This systematic approach will ensure that every aspect of the subject is thoroughly covered. For each lesson, I will develop my own PowerPoint presentation, focusing on the details of the specific topic at hand. This will not only make the lessons more engaging but also cater to different learning styles, helping students grasp complex concepts more easily. In the final 10 minutes of each session, we will go through past paper questions and address any other queries the student may have. This will provide practical application of the material learned and prepare them for exams. My goal is to create a supportive and effective learning environment that fosters academic growth and confidence in my students. I hope to help spread knowledge to other children.
