I am a very versatile and creative educator and have over fifteen years of experience in language instruction. In addition to my fifteen years of experience in classroom instruction with groups of up to thirty students, I am very comfortable with educational technology and have been teaching and tutoring online for five years with several tutoring companies and the U.S. Department of State.
I am a C1 level in Spanish, having lived in Colombia as a child and subsequently in Chile, Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Mexico as an adult. I am able to switch between a Castilian and neutral Latin American accent depending on the needs of my students. At the outset of the pandemic, I developed and launched my own business teaching Spanish individually and in small groups online and curated the courses and Spanish to fit the needs of the students - for example, Spanish for a Survivalist instructor giving workshops in the Colombian jungle, to a minister preparing for the Camino de Santiago.
I tailor my classes to the needs and learning styles and preferences of each student and approach it as facilitating, drawing out and building on a student's knowledge and strengths rather than lecturing.
