My tutoring sessions will focus on mentoring and motivating the student to engage with STEM by providing them with the skills necessary to become a high achiever.
The first session will consist of a discussion with the student to understand their concerns with the subject. Together we will plan how to address these concerns and how I can help the student achieve their desired outcome.
Subsequent sessions will involve breaking down subject material into manageable topics which will then become the focus for the session. I plan to lead the session by commencing with an overview of the topic, followed by addressing any questions the student may have and completing past paper/sample questions on the topic (if relevant). Through guided sessions which progressively allow the student to become more independent, I hope to encourage them to have more confidence in their ability and also help to motivate them to engage with STEM. I plan to use real-world examples and demonstrate why STEM is fundamentally important to the way the world works which will advance and extend the student's interest in the sciences.

I also appreciate the focus on university applications when undertaking GCSE/A-level exams so I hope to act as a valued contact for the student. I believe that my experience with completing successful applications for top university is worth sharing and I hope that my journey could act as motivation for the student. Through this, I hope to mentor the student and support them through all stages of the application process.
