I believe that every student requires a different approach to how they want to be taught. If we’re working on brass performance, we’ll work together to create an effective practice routine, as well as work on various methods and studies to develop your skills. If you’re working on grade pieces, we’ll develop your style and sound so it is appropriate for the genre. I am happy to work on whatever you want to work on! Lessons will be made as fun as possible, as I know how difficult it can be to stay engaged if it’s not gripping.
Composition lessons will be similar, but we will deconstruct your work and evaluate why you have made certain decisions and what they contribute to the music. We will take both an analytical and creative approach to the music, as writing is highly subjective. We will also work on presentation and notation of scores in the software. If necessary, we can also work together on the MIDI stage and creating a high quality mock-up that can be used for presenting.
