As a teacher, I prefer not to lecture but encourage self-guided discovery with any student. My approach is more 'the guide by the side' than 'the sage on the stage'.
Use of various opportunities provided by IT, e.g. PowerPoints and related hyperlinks, is also important as they can quickly underpin learning and understanding through multi-sensory images, sounds and words.
I have researched education in my specialist subjects for an M.A. and also for a PhD.
I currently volunteer for The National Trust as a tour gude at Levant, an old Cornish copper and tin mine where my academic background in geology is invaluable.
