I would start off with asking the student what they are hoping to get out of the lessons. I will assess their previous knowledge and outline what they want to learn. Then I will figure out on an individual basis how they are best taught. I think it’s best to act as a learning support, so push the student to get to the answers themselves. I will offer any help they need but ensure that they understand how to get to the conclusions themselves. This would consist of exercises, quizzes and questions to ensure they fully understand everything that they are being taught. I want the students to to feel comfortable asking for help with anything and for all of their questions to be fully answered so they can understand everything to the best of their abilities.
