Nestoras Pitta

I have a track record of successful teaching and education reform, and have been teaching children of all ages for almost 5 years.
I grew up in a family of teachers, which inspired me to take on tutoring and
mentoring roles as early as twelve years of age.
At age fourteen, I gave group Mathematics lessons for disadvantaged children in my community. By the time I was sixteen, I was already known as an excellent tutor for mathematics and economics throughout my community.
I believe my students will find that I am very patient and I will always be persistent until I see my students excel.
I attend University of Nottingham on a full academic scholarship, where I major in economics and statistics. I served as the president of the Big Brothers and Sisters organization on campus, which connected college students with local middle and high school students to foster strong relationships which would benefit both parties.
Some of my mentees went on to attend Fullerton University, citing my influence as a driving force for their decision to stay in school and pursue higher education in the midst of
pressures to do otherwise.
After graduation, I intent to join the faculty at University of Nottingham, where I will teach a variety of math classes.
For the past years, I have taught mathematics and economics at three different regional high schools, where I headed many efforts to expand the curriculum to engage students at different mathematical competencies.
I head the after school Teach me, Teach you program, where students are given a safe space to study and tutor one another in different subjects.
My program has won acclaim throughout the community, and multiple
other schools are following in my footsteps and creating similar programs in their own schools.
