I am a Biochemistry student at the UEA. I came over from Germany to study here, where I attended a competitive international school and got my IB diploma. There I always was a lab assistant and a peer tutor. This meant that I was supporting my peers and students in younger years with their studies after school and in class. From this I know that studying, especially in subjects that are considered to be hard, can be a daunting task for a lot of students. I have personally always loved studying. I love my subject and I love working for it. I always hope to share that with other students. I find that when they aren’t afraid of the material that they are working with they will understand it much faster and achieve better results. I am not a qualified teacher and to some degree this is my advantage. I’m young and much closer to them than their teachers in class. This allows me to be a friends who can offer help and encouragement in a much more informal environment. Showing them how to keep calm in stressful situations, like an exam setting, is an important skill to have that will help them for the rest of their life’s.
