Hello, I have been teaching privately and in schools for over 25 years. My students range from year 3 to 76 years old. I ask my students what they want to achieve and base my lessons on this information. For classical and acoustic students, I recommend reading traditional notation through The Guitarist’s Way series of books. After the second book, (16 pages in each book), I encourage pupils to move on to Trinity College Classical or acoustic grade books. For electric students, I start by explaining tablature and basic picking techniques, then move on to the Rock and Pop grade books. Students work at their own pace and learn to play along with backing tracks. My aim is for pupils to enjoy playing and fulfil their potential. Students explore different musical genres and my aim is to convey a life long love and appreciation of music.
