As a current biochemistry undergraduate student at Imperial college London with a proven track record in guiding students to success at A levels and GCSE, I am enthusiastic about this tutoring position, as it aligns perfectly with my passion for Biology and my commitment to nurturing students’ academic growth. I have a strong background in both A-levels and GCSE achieving a grade 8 and A*, respectively, allowing me to possess an in-depth understanding of the curricula, including key topics and key examination questions. This will enable me to effectively guide and support students. I have experience tutoring struggling GCSE students and year 12 students at my high school in year 13. I believe in student-centred learning, where I try to facilitate understanding and critical thinking rather than simply providing the answers. I start my lessons by asking students which topics they are struggling with, I can then make a lesson plan based on those key topics. In the following lessons, we will go over challenging concepts within those topics using visual aids such as diagrams. I will try to understand how best the student remembers information and try to utilise that to ensure they can revise material effectively. After going over the key topics, I will then back up their understanding by providing challenging questions from previous exams and then provide insightful feedback to ensure students can answer similar questions in the exams.
I will make mini quizzes and collations of past paper questions which are tailored for the student's specific exam board to set their knowledge in stone.
