Being bilingual, I understand some of the most frequent pain-points for Chinese learners, these include pronunciations, intonations and similar sounding words. I can help overcome those barriers by providing tips and help correct those frequently made mistakes. I was on the school debate team and participated in state-level poem recitation competitions. For that, I was taught how to enunciate and pronounce each word clearly and correctly by professionals and my teachers. I can certainly help you in this aspect by facilitating some teaching sessions and having conversations solely in Mandarin, comment and provide feedback on your speaking skills.
Furthermore, I know that writing is probably the hardest part for non-native Chinese learners. I would set some foundation blocks by teaching you the basic strokes and what each character means. It will be to grasp the Chinese characters if you actually understand what they mean as most characters actually resemble what they mean in real life, for example the character of fire and water just to name a few. The Chinese language has countless characters and it is impossible to remember and recognize all of them, but I believe it is all about pattern recognition, at least for my case. I can help you achieve a certain level where you could sort of guess what that character sounds like and what it means. Practice definitely makes perfect and I would organize and tailor the sessions to suit how to take in information and how you learn.
I have provided tutoring back in high school for 3 years back in Malaysia for students who needed more help in their writing. I can help you with your Chinese homework for school or prepare you for your oral exam. Being a medical student, I am patient, empathic and can most definitely relate to the struggles in learning the Chinese language, having been in the same spot myself. Thus, I believe I can be the person who can support and guide you in your journey learning Chinese.
