I aim to integrate real situations and Spanish customs in my lessons to help students retain new words and phrases contextually. I put a focus on tenses, grammar rules and conjugating verbs rather than learning words out of context which can be overwhelming and ineffective when starting to learn Spanish. I will start each lesson by having a light conversation in Spanish to uncover what you know already and to uncover gaps in your knowledge that we can strengthen. For GCSE students we will then take a look at what is required to reach your desired grades in Spanish highlighting what is necessary to achieve your goals, in this instance a closer look at the mark scheme and curriculum is essential. I then will move on to filling those gaps in your knowledge grammar and vocabulary drills to iron out mistakes. We will practice listening and reading comprehension with short extracts. I will then finish with linking what you’ve practiced to a real world situation or customs in Spain to give a more relatable understanding of what you’ve learnt to ensure it sticks in the mind. We will then recap again using a light conversation to reinforce what you have learned.
