First, I will assess what you already know, and what you don't. From this, we will come up with some short-term goals you'd like to achieve in your playing. This could be learning a solo, learning a whole song, learning to improvise, or anything else you can think of. We will then break this goal down into easier pieces, and then work our way through those (through practice in the lesson, and practice in your own time) until the goal is complete. After this, we set a new goal, and the process begins once again.
When you aren't sure where next to go, my experience as a multi-instrumentalist songwriter will provide ample scope for further improvement. Be that learning theory - with an emphasis on using and applying that theory, learning more difficult techniques, or by preparing for a Grade, I am confident that we'll never run out of interesting things to learn!
I'll also place a strong focus on good academic practice - I am interested in the Study of Learning, and seek to apply what I know in that field to ensure that you learn as much as possible, at the fastest pace possible. For instance, studies show that it is better to practice more frequently and in shorter bursts than doing long sessions. As such, I will provide many smaller practice routines, rather than a large regimen that takes up lots of time. This allows for more flexibility around practicing, while also permitting easier material absorption and retention.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope my expertise will prove invaluable to you
