My teaching methods are very simple. Before the lesson I will ask your guardian or parent, to send me what area of mathematics you would like to work on each lesson, so I can prepare exercises and questions during the lesson, I will also provide a small document with which is optional outside the tutoring time if the student would like to go over what was done in the lesson the following day. And if required or requested will provide a small amount of additional work to be done outside the tutoring hours, and will be reviewed the following lesson.
My actual teaching is very much student lead, where I will introduce a topic and method if the student does not initially know or understand it, then will get the student to do a few questions using the topic or method just shown. If the student does not quite understand how to tackle a question, I will first give a small hint, then if they need a bit more help, I will break down the question and pick apart the most key areas to be focussing on and telling them the method. Then if they still do not get it, we will pause on that question as it can get quite overwhelming focussing on something you don’t understand. And move on to another question, to then return to that initial question later in the lesson or the following lesson if need be.
My experience in teaching does not come from mathematics or physics, but from football coaching and second hand teaching from my mother, and doing coaching for 2 years now has equipped me with an understanding how younger children work. I myself have gone through maths tutoring, and this type of tutoring is what I found is the best fitting for the largest majority of students, I also can switch teaching to a more guided approach if the student does not find my way of teaching suitable.
