I am a fun-loving, easy-going person who finds joy in helping others. I became a teacher because I love the "Aha!" moment learners have when everything makes sense. I teach with passion and am acutely aware that although I am a teacher I can also be taught and learn things from my students. My teaching space is a safe place for learners to feel comfortable enough to explore their abilities and voice when they do not understand something. My aim is always to form a bond with students because this provides a more conducive learning environment. I want to talk to or with my students, I never want to talk AT a student. I find joy in exploring literature and discovering symbolism or imagery in every work I read. I also find delight in developing a students foundation in the language because the basics are the stepping stones towards success. I would love to venture into the field of teaching English to specific occupations, such as working men and women who need to improve their abilities or focus on a certain aspect/subject in the language. I have an 18 month old daughter so online teaching is ideal for me, however I am open to in person lessons. My experience teaching at various schools in South Africa has prepared me emotionally and mentally to deal with the unique needs of specific learners. I work off the premise of mutual respect between educator and learner in order to create a conducive learning environment.
